AT for Parkinson’s disease
AT offers a holistic approach to managing the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. The Alexander Technique works with how we initiate and control movement and so it is a clear choice towards managing the everyday challenges that come with a diagnosis of Parkinson’s.
Research (Stallibrass 2002, Cohen 2015) has concluded that AT lessons for Parkinson’s sufferers and their carers reduce disability and depression and increase mobility, balance, confidence and coping ability. It is an awareness to learn and apply meaning that these benefits can be maintained in the long term.
Alexander Technique can help you to
maintain an upright posture
walk more smoothly - no more shuffling or freezing
reduce pain
carry out everyday activities with less effort
breathe better
speak clearly
reduce tremor and rigidity by reducing chronic muscle tension
cope with the good days and the bad days
